Some of strongest starting hands in holdem are:
AA (A pair of aces)
KK (A pair of kings)
QQ (A pair of Queens)
JJ (A pair of Jacks)
TT (A pair of Tens)

AJ (Ace and a Jack)
KQ (King and a Queen)
KJ (King and a Jack)
A good starting point in playing holdem is to stick to playing these starting hands. If you miss the flop then try not to waste too many chips chasing a hand. If you make very strong poker hands like 3 of a kind, a straight, a flush, a full house or anything higher, then try to maximise the amount of chips you win from your opponent.
